permissible_values:
  Male:
    text: Male
    description: Applies to male organisms. May be combined with other sex terms;
      Male together with Female states applicability to both sexes.
  Female:
    text: Female
    description: Applies to female organisms. May be combined with other sex terms;
      Female together with Male states applicability to both sexes.
  Mixed:
    text: Mixed
    description: Applies to both males and females as a single term; the evidence
      or claim covers both sexes without distinguishing them. In AOP-Wiki practice,
      listing Male and Female together is used for the same purpose.
  Asexual:
    text: Asexual
    description: Applies to organisms that reproduce without sexes, so a male/female
      distinction does not apply.
  Third Gender:
    text: Third Gender
    description: Applies to organisms with a sex or mating type other than male or
      female.
  Hermaphrodite:
    text: Hermaphrodite
    description: Applies to organisms with both male and female reproductive organs,
      whether simultaneously or sequentially.
  Unspecific:
    text: Unspecific
    description: 'The sex is not specified: not reported, not determined, or not considered
      relevant. Distinct from Mixed, which states that both sexes are covered.'
